Project Concept & Inspiration

These designs stem from a shared vision of celebrating Vancouver Island’s cultural and musical heritage:

Colours of the Island Poster:

  • Highlights Vancouver Island with a typographic map featuring town names.
  • Incorporates abstract Coast Salish-inspired swirls to honor the region's Indigenous artistry.
  • It uses vibrant colours to reflect the energy of jazz and the island's natural beauty.

Vitamin D Minor Sticker:

  • Designed as a whimsical band sticker inspired by the song "Vitamin D Minor."
  • Features a cheeky goblin illustration paired with colourful pill motifs, merging humour and jazz creativity.

Creative Process

Research & Ideation:

  • Explored the geography of Vancouver Island and the Coast Salish art style for the poster.
  • Developed playful sketches for the goblin and pill concept inspired by the song's theme.

Design Execution:

Poster:

  • Created in Adobe Illustrator, with detailed typography arranged to form the map of Vancouver Island.
  • Incorporated bold, swirling patterns to evoke movement and jazz energy.

Sticker:

  • Illustrated in Adobe Illustrator, balancing bold colours and a fun character design.

Finalization:

  • Both designs were adapted for print and merchandise, ensuring scalability and vibrant colour reproduction.
